Heads of Easter Island

Using stone picks, theEaster Island Moai were carved between 1100 and 1680 AD from solidified volcanic ash of the Rano Raraku volcano. They weight around 20 tons and can be 20-feet tall or more. While there may be more than 1000 sculptures, the total number of unearthed Moai is currently 887.
