The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana’s Kalahari Desert.
The Okavango (Kavango) River flows from the Angolan highlands, across Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, and seasonally floods the Delta, transforming grassy plains into a lush habit for plants and wildlife.
The Moremi Game Reserve occupies the east and central parts of the Delta where hippos wade, elephants bathe, and crocodiles lurk just beneathe the water’s surface. On land, lions and leopards hunt while giraffes, rhinos, and zebras graze.
